Company Story

Magla Products is the leader in the household glove market producing 30 million household gloves and more than 200 million disposable gloves annually. Today we have a product in just about every major retailer in the U.S. reaching a base of 150,000 stores nationwide.

Beginning nearly a half century ago with an idea to put a coating on ironing board covers to make ironing easier and faster, Magla Products has evolved into one of the country's most innovative manufacturers of home, garden and work gloves and cleaning products.

For almost 50 years, we have manufactured laundry products, namely ironing board covers, dominating the category with an 80% market share. In the early 1970s we first entered the household glove business and in 1993 purchased Ansell's United States distribution.

In 1995 we decided to restructure the company, selling off our laundry business, to focus primarily on household and work gloves. As part of the restructuring, Magla moved a main part of its operation to Statesville, NC, where it maintains a 175,000 square foot warehouse. The company moved its corporate headquarters from Chatham to Morristown, NJ.

In 1998, we capitalized on the fact that there wasn't a recognizable brand in the work glove category. By the end of that same year, we entered into a licensing deal with The Stanley Works of New Britain, CT to market our entire line of work and garden gloves under the Stanley brand name.

Keeping with the company's strategy of supplying consumers with high quality products, in January of 2000 Magla entered into a licensing deal with consumer products giant Procter & Gamble to offer a complete line of household reusable and disposable gloves under the Mr. Clean brand name.

Next we decided to turn our attention to the countries largest pastime which is gardening. During the first quarter of 2003 we entered into another licensing agreement with the W. Atlee Burpee Company for the rights to market a complete line of Burpee Garden Gloves.

One of the fastest growing segments of our business is the consumer disposable medical glove category. We helped to pioneer this segment of the glove business by marketing a line of gloves under the Magla Touch brand. In August of 2005 we entered into an agreement with the American Red Cross to market a complete line of branded medical exam gloves. This is the first time that the American Red Cross has entered into such an agreement. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of each retail package will go directly to benefit the organizations relief efforts.

We have built our glove and household cleaning products business like our ironing board business, relying on common themes learned over our nearly 50 year history. Just like adding coatings and unique products to a plain silicon ironing board cover, Magla is following the same strategy in the glove business by adding fashion and unique materials. We have developed numerous innovative patents from unique coatings and constructions to printing on gloves.

For example, with nearly 18 million people allergic to latex, we engineered a latex free alternative known as Nyplex™, a polymer material only available from Magla. Our disposable and reusable Nyplex gloves are dermatologist recommended as a safe alternative for persons with allergies to latex.

Today, Magla offers more than 40 different styles and designs of reusable and disposable household gloves and over 140 different work gloves. With reusable cloth wipes marketed under the Mr. Clean and Magla brands and related cleaning products we have staked a claim to being the countries leading supplier of branded and private label hand protection to consumers.

Our broad line of branded and private label items have been embraced by the retail industry for their wide array of styles and constructions to meet diverse consumer needs, outstanding customer service, competitive prices, creative packaging and merchandising and promotional support.

Underlying our commitment to manufacture and market the highest quality products is our commitment to our customers. Contributing to our growth is the service we provide to our customers, shipping orders at a 99% fill rate within 48 hours.
